New construction with a blank fence canvas
An open back yard with endless possibilities. A mix of evergreen and deciduous color was recommended with larger anchor plants for privacy as well as the home had an elevated back deck so height was much needed. Smaller hydrangea shrubs in the foreground for a splash of summer color.
Two specimen lavender crepe myrtle were chosen to flank either side of the planting bed. Crepe myrtles are one of our favorite flowering trees. They provide an uncommon bloom period in the summer months and tend to hold their flowers longer than most. As shown in the photos, they also have a beautiful fall color.
The center piece of the yard was chosen to be a golden deodar cedar, which will bring 12 months of that beautiful color. Two coral bark maples, which add bright red bark, and two green giant arborvitae for some solid green texture and contrast were also included.
Freshly composted soil was added to ensure the plants transition well into their new environment. A layer of mulch was added as the final touch to conserve moisture when the new plants establish in their new home, and to keep away those pesky weeds.
